Brian Wise of Glacier Greens Golf Club was a winner at the PGA of BC 2016 awards banquet.
On Oct. 12, at the River Rock Casino Resort in Richmond, the PGA of British Columbia recognized the proud achievements of its members at their annual awards celebration.
Wise received the Jock McKinnon Candidate for Membership of the Year, presented by Cleveland Golf/Srixon Canada.
The PGA of BC notes Jock McKinnon was the first golf professional at Capilano Golf & Country Club when the prestigious club opened its doors in 1937. His career at Capilano spread out over four decades and saw the mentorship of countless aspiring golf professionals who knew that working and learning from McKinnon would almost certainly guarantee a head professional position of their own when the opportunity arose.
McKinnon also served four years as president of the PGA of BC throughout three separate terms, and was awarded an Honorary Membership with the PGA of America.
Prior to the Oct. 12 awards, Len Doyle of Glacier Greens Golf Club noted the pro shop, under the guidance of head pro Bill Kelly, had been awarded the Golf Shop of the Year award for the Vancouver Island region and assistant pro Wise, for the third year in a row, had been named the PGA of BC Candidate for Membership for the Vancouver Island region.
“Both awards are a tribute to the knowledgeable, dedicated and caring staff we have in our pro shop at Glacier Greens,” Doyle said.
