A trio of North Okanagan athletes secured top-five finishes in the North Face Dirty Feet trail running season series.

In the men’s division, Vernon Steve Briggeman duplicated his second-place performance from last season. Competing among 450 runners, he racked up 728 points, 44 back of winner Jon Shepard of Kamloops. Lumby’s Michael Burkhart ranked third with 700 points, and Vernon’s Neil Munroe was fourth with 567.

Vernon’s Samantha Loewen secured third in the women’s class with 682 points in a field of 800. Kamloops’ Deanna Stout topped the division with 779 points.

Briggeman capped the nine-stop Dirty Feet series by placing second in the Naramata Tunnel 20km earlier this month. He finished in one hour, 27 minutes and 53 seconds. Burkhart was fourth in 1:30:49.
