The Ridge Meadows Bruins rugby club had mixed results over the weekend, with the women’s team winning and the men losing a close one.
The ladies defeated their rivals from Burnaby by a score of 41-20, in a game where Larissa Chat led the way. Playing her best game this season, she scored two tries.
Dawn Carver also had two tries, with Lindsay Hill, Michelle Kieselbach and Katie Zadorozny scoring one try each. Bri Railon rounding out the scoring by kicking three converts.
The ladies remain undefeated with one game to go in the season.
The men’s quest for the playoffs hit a road bump with a 17-15 loss against the Rowing Club.
Starting the second half down 7-3 the boys rallied to take a 16-14 lead late in the game, but lost by a penalty kick with seconds left on the clock.
Scoring for the men was Josh Ladd with a try and a penalty kick and Jake Cole also scored a try.
The men’s last game of the regular season is on the North Shore, while the ladies host Comox at home on Saturday.
