A 6-0 lead was not enough as the Langley Senior Blaze finished on the wrong end of an 8-6 score in senior men’s baseball action.
The Blaze were facing the Burnaby Collegiate Bulldogs on Thursday (June 19) at Robert Burnaby Park in Pacific International League action.
The loss dropped the Blaze to 2-3.
And Langley built an early lead thanks to a pair of runs in the first inning when Jovan Ewusie and Clayton Howell scored on wild pitches.
The Blaze tacked on four more runs in the third when Mason Cratty’s double scored Louis Boyd and Howell. Scott Webster then brought Cratty home with an RBI single. And Webster would score on a Riley MacDonald fielder’s choice.
But that would be it for the offence and the Bulldogs stormed back with five runs in the bottom of the third and another three in the fourth.
The game was shortened to five innings because of the rain.
Cam Challand was tagged with the loss after allowing five earned runs.
The Blaze are on Vancouver Island this weekend with games against the Victoria Harbour Cats on Saturday in Victoria and Sunday in Duncan.
