Byerley wins low gross at Allen Memorial golf tourney

 

 

 

The sun shone on Sunnydale Ladies Tuesday May 24 as they held their annual Alice Allen Memorial Trophy tournament. The low gross winner was Bev Byerley with 81 and runner-up was Carolyn Walker with 91. The low net winner was Joan Brown with 75 and runner-up was Trisha Harris with 76.

The rest of the field were as follows: 3rd low gross was Marlene Gerrie 97, 4th Lys McCrone 99, 5th Jane Grant and Fran Shaw with 100 and 6th low gross was Lois Westbrook with 103.

On the net side the rest of the field were: Sharon Littler and Ann Gardam were 3rd with 77, 4th Heather Blackburn, Pat Rudolph and Norma Rankin with 78. Blod Crookshank and Fran Gibson were 6th low net with 80.

Our low putt winners were Bev Aitken, Sandra Gallaway and Carolyn Walker with 28. Carolyn also won the long putt on #9. KP #10 was Rona Lawson, KP#15 was Anna Butler.

Our nine-hole ladies had a good turnout with results as follows: low gross winner Louise Smiley and Ardene Larison had low putts. Honourable mention goes to Carol Busse 2nd low gross and Irene Hilchey had 2nd low putts and also a chip in on #11.

Next week is regular golf with tee off for 18-hole ladies at 9 a.m.

 

 

 

Cool day

 

 

 

It was a cool, cloudy day on May 21 but it stayed reasonably dry for the 113 Glacier Greens Saturday Men’s golfers who played the white/blue tees. Results as follows:

Hcp. 0-11: Low gross Randy Robinson 75, Jeff Edwards 77 c/b, Doug Mcarthur 77 c/b. Low net Stan Mills 69, Kevin Hunt 70 c/b, Willie Oliver 70. Snips: #2 Karl Cameron, #5 Randy Robinson, #15 Steve Peters, #17 Stan Mills.

Hcp. 12-16: Low gross Richard Martin 79 c/b, Jon Mactinger 79, Gary Reaume 84 c/b. Low net Jack Jackson 66, Norm Fellbaum 69, Adrian Haut 71. Snips: #2 & #8 Paul Schroeder, #7 Jon Mactinger, #10 Mike Pollock, #11 Al Donovan, #15 Glen Meeres.

Hcp. 17-plus: Low gross Warren Brandson 81, Glen Horspool 86, Murray Polson 89. Low net Terry Mitchell 66, Ken Doll 66 c/b, John Holley 72. Snips: #2 & #10 Warren Brandson, #7 Terry Mitchell.

 

 

 

Best ball

 

 

 

The Crown Isle Ladies golf game played May 24 was 1, 2, 3 Best Ball – a team game using net scores. On the first hole the lowest score is used, on the second the two lowest scores, the third uses the three lowest, the fourth goes back to the one lowest, and so on.

Winners of the game, with a low net of 129, were Mathilde Schneider, Anne Sands, Sandy Dudley and Sheila Potts.  Second low net, at 131, was the team of Sandy Linhart, Joan Compton, Jane Cunningham and Mavis Baines.

KPs went to Barb Parker (#4) and Sandy Dudley (#12).  Birdies were scored by Liz Ellis (#4), Sandy Dudley (# 5 and #12), Jean Wharton (#7), Marilyn McCusker (#8), Cheryl Farnham (#11), Mathilde Schneider (#13), Rosemary Smith and Pam Stevens (#16), and Andrea Spitz (#18).

 

 

 

Team play

 

A most pleasant Tuesday for the Glacier Greens ladies to play their qualifying round for the Club Team Championships that will be held in Myrtle Point on June 22.

Representing Glacier Greens are team No. 1: Ann Johnston, Beth Broomfield and Gillian Iddiols and team No. 2: Kelly Gibb, Duane Miles and Lynne Pringle. Good luck, ladies.

Playing a regular game, gross winners were Donna Wilson 81, Gene  Renaud 86, June Linklater 89 and Ann Johnston 93. Net winners were Marie Israel 68, Bernice Henderson 71, Beth Broomfield and Lori Cameron 72, Judy Fellbaum c/b 73.

May 19 was perfect for Sunnydale Thursday Night Ladies fun golf.

Myrtle Gibson won longest putt. Kaitlyn Miller was the sand trap winner. Peggy Ferguson and Kathy Meunier won the closest to the pin in 2nd and 3rd shots. Dulce Rodriguez was closest to the top of the rock. Frances Wright was in sight of the big tree. Kathy Meunier won low putts and Maggie O’Sullivan was most honest golfer.
