Young sports fans interested in being on the sidelines to capture all the action through video, photos and interviews, now have the chance to do so at the Legion National Youth Track and Field Championships.
The Royal Canadian Legion is partnering with Shaw TV to mentor up to 30 young adults aged 14-22 with an interest in live event sports production, reporting and broadcasting to help cover the track and field event.
Those chosen will be trained by Shaw TV to develop scripts for interviews and reporting, use professional TV cameras, editing and broadcast equipment, film the championships, interview youth athletes for TV features, create future shorts and assist in producing a two-hour special about the championships.
Training will take place at the Rotary field house at McLeod Athletic Park in July.
The Legion National Youth Track and Field Championships are being held at McLeod Athletic Park from August 7 to 12.
There is no cost, but participants must attend all training classes in July to be certified to take part.
To apply contact Ted Stout, 778-840-4408 or ted@roi3.net, for the mentorship volunteer form.
Deadline is May 31.
