The Vancouver Canucks Alumni and Friends are coming to the Comox Valley to play in the Mayor’s Cup in the New Year.

The annual challenge between Courtenay and Comox is a fundraising event featuring local politicians and business leaders.

One of the largest and most active groups in the National Hockey League Alumni Association, the Canucks Alumni is comprised of former hockey players, coaches and administrators. There are more than 125 members in B.C.

Stephane Richer, Gilbert Delorme and Chris ‘Knuckles’ Nilan of the Montreal Canadiens Alumni played in the 2015 Mayor’s Cup.

The game will be held at the Comox Valley Sports Centre Jan. 18. Puck drop is 7 p.m.

Tickets will be available at the door.

For pre-sale or group tickets, call Kevin Pantuso at (250) 331-6091.

Proceeds from the event will go to Comox Valley KidSport, a non-profit organization that helps children and youth who cannot play sports due to financial barriers.
