Dave Merklinger’s Canwest Propane pushed its Baron Insurance Super League win streak to three with a 7-5 decision over Jim Cotter’s Woodland Equipment Wednesday night at the Vernon Curling Club.
The pivotal end was a steal of three in the third. With the 4-2 Canwest crew junking up the middle, Cotter’s angle bump attempt didn’t curl enough.
The Woodland crew, now 3-3, made a game of it with clutch deuces in five and seven, but substitute skip Darren Heath put the game away with an open hit after Cotter’s draw around a guard crashed.
Despite missing skip Brad Wood, Nufloors improved to 6-0 with a 7-1 win over Jenn Gerow’s CanHealth/A&G Supply.
After cracking a deuce to open the game, Nufloors added a triple in three and another two points in five to earn an early night upstairs.
Gerow, whose lone point came in the second end, dipped to 3-3.
Ryan Kuhn returned from his trip around the world to pilot North Enderby Timber to a 7-3 win over Sherry Heath’s Tuxedo Classic Promotions.
The 1-5 Tuxedo rink used a pair of great shots by skip Kevin Geistlinger to count a steal of two in the first end, but Kuhn (6-1) responded with back-to-back triples in two and three to take control.
Facing a difficult tap through a tight hole in four, Geistlinger allowed another steal before answering with a single in five.
The match between TJ Perepolkin’s Canaccord Wealth Management (2-3) and Alyssa Kyllo’s Armstrong Optometry (0-6) was cancelled.
