Former Vernon Viper Aaron Volpatti will be living in the U.S. capital for the foreseeable future.
The NHL Capitals re-signed the scrappy left winger to a two-year contract this week. He will earn $550,000 in 2013-14 and $600,000 in 2014-15.
The 28-year-old one goal, one assist and 33 penalty minutes in 31 games with Washington and the Vancouver Canucks this season. He has three goals, two assists and 86 penalty minutes in 69 career NHL games.
Volpatti, a Revelstoke product, was claimed off of waivers by Washington on Feb. 28.
