The Cariboo 8-Ball League’s doubles season is in the books.
Five teams — made up of both separate men’s and women’s teams for a total of 10 — squared off April 6 for the league’s playoffs where Diamonds and Dust were crowned champions after defeating the OV Stars in the final match.
Diamonds and Dust players included doubles pairings Evans Billyboy and Brandi Phillips, Al Deutch and Orenda Gilbert, Derrick Cooper and Evelyna Bowe, Dustin Hinksman and Wendy Alphonse, Skylar Bowe and Joan Jeff and George Fletcher and Ann Whitford.
John Halfnights, past president of the league, said games consist of a race to eight, where the first team to win eight games advances.
In the final, D&D defeated the OV Stars, 8-4.
Third place in the league went to the OV Boomers.
The Cariboo 8-Ball League doubles season ran from January until the finals April 6, while the singles league goes from September until December.
“If anyone’s wanting to play they can get a hold of someone on a team to see if anyone’s needing people or needing new players,” Halfnights said.

“The way a lot of people do it is they just spare for a team.”
Rules for the league are Las Vegas style, as opposed to bar rules.
“If there happens to be a foul you get ball in hand, anywhere on the table, so things like that can take a little bit for people to get used to,” he said.
On the men’s side competing teams were the Oliver Demons (Nick Surette, captain), Legion Lords (John Halfnights, captain), the Legion Knights (Lou Pilaszkiewicz, captain), the OV Kings (Nick Jeff, captain), the OV Vikings (Ray Caron, captain) and the D&D Gunslingers (Guy Bowe, captain).
The women’s teams were the Oliver She-Devils (Janet Keener), Legion Angels (Edna Boston, captain), the Legion Dames (Bonnie O’Neill, captain), the OV Babes (Violet Fuller, captain), the OV Stars (Tina Jeff, captain) and D&D (Evelyna Bowe, captain).
The league’s newly elected executive, meanwhile, consists of president Cheryl Chapman, past president John Halfnights, vice president Shawn Poitras, treasurer Val Coulthard, statistician Jackie Laflamme and secretary Juanita Keener.
