More than 60 bowlers and their supporters, from eight North Island and Mid Island clubs, joined the Qualicum Beach Seniors Carpet Bowlers Club, at the Qualicum Beach Civic Centre, on Tuesday for the 19th annual Qualicum Beach Mixed Triples Tournament, sponsored by Qualicum Beach Pharmasave.

The result, after five hard-fought games, was that the Pharmasave Trophy was awarded to one of the Qualicum Beach teams, with Port Alberni in second place and the Lighthouse club coming in third.

The winning team of Peter Zboyovsky, skip, with Marguerite Kendal, Tom Yoshida and Helen Berquist, were neck and neck with the team from Port Alberni, each having four wins, going into the last game.

They clinched first place by being the only team to win all five of their games.

The host club bowls regularly at the Civic Centre on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays at 12-45pm and welcomes visitors.

No experience is necessary and free instruction is always available. For more information phone Maggie, at 250-752-1156.
