Carter returns for annual Prepchuk football camp

Ottawa RedBlacks and former Mt. Boucherie receiver Matt Carter will be at KSS next month for the Jay Prepchuk Quarterback/Receiver Camp.

Ottawa RedBlacks’ receiver Matt Carter will be one of the instructors on Saturday, May 2 in Kelowna at the annual Jay Prepchuk Quarterback/Receiver Camp.

Carter, a former player with the Mt. Boucherie Bears and Okanagan Sun, had a career season with the RedBlacks in 2014, catching 41 passes for 551 yards and two touchdowns.

Prepchuk is a former head coach at UBC and former quarterback at Simon Fraser.

The camp will be held from 3 to 6 p.m. at KSS and is open to players 11 to 18 years of age. There is a limit of 12 quarterbacks and 12 receivers.

Participants are asked to bring their own football, cleats, a snack and water. No football gear is necessary.

Topics covered for quarterbacks include throwing mechanics, play-action pass, ball handing/faking, footwork, reading defences and hot passing game.

Topics covered for receivers include stance and starts, blocking, route running, footwork, ball handling and mental preparation.

The cost is $100 per player.
