Wildcat to play basketball at University of Fraser Valley

Ravjot Dhaliwal of the Tamanawis Wildcats has agreed to join the University of Fraser Valley Cascades (UFV) men’s basketball team next season.

The six-foot-eight post player will join the Cascades and play in the CIS (Canadian Interuniversity Sports) next fall.

This past season, Dhaliwal averaged 15.8 points per game while pulling down nine rebounds per game and shooting 48.1 per cent from the floor, helping the Wildcats to a 10th place finish at the B.C. High School Championship tournament earlier this month.

Fraser Valley placed second in the Canada West Conference, qualifying for the CIS national championships in Halifax two weeks ago, where they won one of three games.

“Rav has been an interior presence for Tamanawis all season. (Head coach) Surinder Grewal does a great job with all the student-athletes at Tamanawis, so it’s great to get a recruit from their program,” said UFV head coach Barnaby Craddock. “Rav has been a key member of the Basketball BC program, which is a huge plus for his development. Rav is the complete student-athlete; a great student, great athlete and an outstanding young man, he is a fantastic addition to our program.”
