UFV athletics return to action on a big way on Friday night.
After a month-long absence, the UFV Cascades men’s and women’s basketball teams, as well as the men’s and women’s Cascades volleyball teams, hit the floor all evening on Friday.
It’s the first time this season that both the bigger Envision Athletic Centre and the smaller Student Activity Centre are hosting games, and on Friday they will do so at the same time.
Action kicks off in the big gym with the women’s basketball team battling the Mount Royal University Cougars at 6 p.m.
Just down the hall, the women’s volleyball team welcomes the Camosun Chargers, also kicking off at 6 p.m.
The women’s basketball team sits in fourth place in the Canadian Interuniversity Sport’s Explorer Division, with a record of four wins and four losses.
UFV’s women’s volleyball team leads the Pacwest, with a record of 10 wins and two losses.
The men’s basketball team tips off against the Cougars starting at 8 p.m. in the big gym, with the men’s volleyball team squaring off against the Chargers in the small gym at 8 p.m.
The men’s basketball team ranks second in the Explorer Division, with a record of five wins and three losses.
The Cascades men’s volleyball team sits third, with a record of seven wins and five losses.
The volleyball teams return to the floor on Saturday afternoon against the Chargers, with the women playing at 1 p.m. and the men at 3 p.m. The basketball teams hit the hardwood on Saturday, with the women tipping off at 5 p.m., and the men at 7 p.m.
