Nine athletes from the Selkirk Challengers Gymnastics Club participated in the first annual BC Artistic Compulsory Gymnastics Championships recently.
Selah Knelsen entered the Junior Olympic Level 2 category. Brynn Strelaeff and Hayleigh Morris entered the Junior Olympic Level 3 category. Cayden Farnum, Sahara Heppner and Jenna Postnikoff entered the Junior Olympic Level 4 category. Emma McLachlan, Abby Hunter-Oglow and Kaulyn Jmaiff entered the Junior Olympic Level 5 category.
The championship for Junior Olympic levels 1-5 is new to Gymnastics BC this year.
Gymnasts that compete in the compulsory levels perform identical routines and are judged on their performance of these routines on the floor, vault, beam, and uneven bars. To qualify for the compulsory championships, gymnasts must obtain a minimum all-around score of 32.00 at a meet held prior to March 2019.
