Having welcomed squads (and their entourages) from Creston, Surrey, Winfield, Elk Valley, Nelson, South Okanagan and Spokane the Castlegar Midget Rep Rebels came out of the preliminary portion atop their division. See below for details
The weekend event would be decided in a championship match-up between the hosts and South Okanagan group.
“It was tied up 2-2 and Castlegar was given a penalty shot with about 1:50 left in the game,” described the CMHA‘s Pat Cutts, manager of the midget team.
“We (Garret Patterson) scored on the penalty shot to make it 3-2 then South Okanagan scored, like, immediately after.”
A five minute four-on-four session would solve nothing. The three-on-three frame, however, produced the winner for the guests.
Patterson, who Cutts said “played a whale of a game,” scored all three goals for his team.
