If you are one of those people who hate to hang up their skates once the ice melts, the Castlegar Skating Club has something new that might just get you through the summer months.
The club has launched an inline figure skating program.
“With much research and networking over the past couple months, I’m very excited to create an opportunity for the skaters of our club and potentially other clubs,” says the club’s head coach Rachel Stewart.
Stewart says the program could be beneficial for any skater looking to improve and advance their skills.
Skaters will be able to continue practicing Skate Canada’s guidelines and disciplines from Star 1 to Gold. It will include both dryland training and inline training to develop a well-rounded program.
Skaters will be able to use their existing ice skate boot by purchasing a special inline frame set to mount on their skates. Once the skates are set up, skaters can also practice at home or anywhere.
Stewart encourages people to have a look at the World Inline Figure Skating Association to see what is going on around the world in the sport.
