Cats could clinch tonight

The Peninsula Panthers took a strangle hold on the series Tuesday night at the Rod Brind’Amour arena beating the Campbell River Storm 3-2.

Despite being without four men — Yee, Rumenovich, Scarborough and Reynolds — they hung on for the win in the best-of-five series. The Panthers lead the first-round VIJHL playoff series two games to none.

Providing the scoring were Jake Bryan with a howitzer from the point, Cole Peterson from Kyle Peterson and Tyler Porteous late in the first and Zach Mazo putting in the game-winner late in the second period.

This game was in sharp contrast to Monday’s game at Panorama arena where, with a full complement of players, the Panthers dominated the never-say-die Storm, out shooting them 42 to 29. Providing the scoring for Peninsula  were Joe Densmore with a hat-trick,  two from Kyle Peterson, plus Cole Peterson and Porteous with one a piece.

Next home game will be at the Panorama arena Friday at 7:30 p.m. where the Panthers could wrap up the series.
