After a season opening overtime loss, the Mission Cedar Kings bounced back in week two of the West Central Senior C Lacrosse League regular season.
Mission took down the Richmond Roadrunners 5-4 on Saturday in Port Coquitlam, and came up with a big effort in the third period to earn the victory.
Richmond held a 2-0 lead after the first, and the Cedar Kings got on the board in the second when John Makowsky scored to make it a 2-1 game after 40 minutes.
Makowsky then tied the game up early in the third, connecting with the Cedar Kings shorthanded by two men.
Minutes later, Steve Aldcroft put the Cedar Kings up 3-2. Gavan Sand added two late goals, and the Cedar Kings held off the Richmond defence to earn the 5-4 win.
Cody Thompson, Branden Bloom and Mitch Cavallarin each recorded two assists in the win, while goalie Jeff Lissimore made 32 saves for his first victory of the season.
Mission’s early record improves to 1-1 with the win.
Next up for the club is a date with the Coquitlam Cobras in Port Coquitlam on Saturday.
Start time is set for 8:15 p.m.
The Cedar Kings then take on the Burnaby Lakers on May 5 at 8:15 p.m. in Port Coquitlam, and then battle the North Shore Indians on May 12 at 5:15 p.m. in Poco.
