Brandon Chai of Predator Ridge finished alone in fourth spot in the juvenile boy’s division of the Maple Leaf Junior Golf Tour’s MJT Ford Series of Events at the Chilliwack Golf Club.
Chai fired rounds of 74 and 81 for an 11-over 155 total, eight shots behind the winner, John Morrow of Delta.
Chai entered the MJT event having finished no lower than third place in the juvenile division of the four season-opening events on the Interior Zone 2 Junior Golf Tour. That included a win at Kelowna’s The Bear course, where Chai fired a 72 for a three-shot win over fellow Predator golfer Braeden Cooper.
Hunter Penalva of Predator cracked the top-10 in the juvenile boys event at Chilliwack. Penalva fired consecutive rounds of 82 to finish at 164, tied for ninth. He has appeared in three juvenile events on the Zone 2 tour this year, with his best finish being sixth at The Bear. Penalva has not finished lower than eighth on the tour.
The next Maple Leaf Junior Golf Tour stop in B.C. is the MJT Lindsay Kenney Classic/IMG Academy Junior World Qualifier at Pagoda Ridge in Langley this weekend.
On the Zone 2 Junior Golf Tour, brothers Max and Will Lockwood tied for first in the Bantam Boys division at the stop in Summerland. The Lockwoods – members of the Vernon Golf and Country Club – shot 77.
George Wilkins of Predator Ridge won the Juvenile Division with a 74, which was the overall low score for the event. Cooper was fourth with an 82.
In the Junior Division, Spallumcheen’s Parker Wadsworth finished third, two shots back of the winner, Nik Federko. Jaden Steinke of Vernon shot an 82.
At Shannon Lake, in West Kelowna, Wadsworth was seventh with a 78, and Steinke eighth with an 84, in the junior division. Ryley Johnson shot 72 to win the event. Wilkins was fourth in the juvenile boys with an 80 while Cooper was eighth after firing an 84.
Will Lockwood was second in bantam boys with a 79, two shots behind the winner. Max Lockwood was seventh (85).
