Championship match-ups set at Abbotsford Police City Basketball Tournament

Title games run all day Saturday at Columbia Bible College.

The match-ups are set for Championship Saturday at the Abbotsford Police City Basketball Tournament.

On paper, perhaps the most interesting clash will be the senior girls title game, which features the W.J. Mouat Hawks vs. the MEI Eagles. Mouat is No. 4 in the provincial AAA rankings, while MEI is hot on their heels at No. 5. Both teams punched their tickets to the final with semifinal wins over ranked AA teams – the Hawks downed No. 5 Abby Christian 84-31, while MEI topped No. 9 Hansen 73-48.

The senior boys final brings together two of B.C.’s better teams in the new AAAA tier – Mouat is ranked No. 4, while the Yale Lions are an honourable mention. The Hawks knocked off MEI 73-61 in the semis, while Yale edged AAA No. 2-ranked Abby Senior 76-67.
