Mission’s Steve Chaplin will be part of the B.C. team at the Western Canadian gymnastics championships in May after his performance last weekend.
Chaplin, a member of the Twisters Gymnastics Club, finished with a gold on floor, pommel horse, rings, vault, horizontal bars and all-around. He also earned a silver on parallel bars.
Other Mission gymnasts placed as follows:
• Jeremy Gaspar, Level 3: gold on pommel horse, vault, and all-around; silver on floor, rings, horizontal bars, and all-around; bronze on parallel bars.
• Vanessa Beckmann, Provincial 5 Tyro: silver on bars.
• Justine Robinson, Provincial 4 Novice: silver on bars.
• Katrina Penner-Loat, Provincial 3 Novice: bronze on beam
• Tamara Skulstad, Provincial 3 Argo: gold on floor, silver on beam and all-around.
• Lexi Gaspar, Provincial 2 Novice: gold on bars.
• Zoe Rumsby, KIP 2: gold on vault and all-around; silver on bars and floor.
Twisters hosted its 17th annual competition March 22-25 in Abbotsford, which attracted 650 B.C. athletes.
