Local Paralympian Tristen Chernove has officially completed his epic 1,000 challenge that he set out to do just a few days ago.
Chernove took his bicycle on a test of mental and physical endurance for the B.C. Epic 1,000 — an almost entirely off-road and self-supported ride that saw him bike through B.C.’s southern interior from Fernie to Merritt.

His goal was to raise money for the Paralympic Foundation of Canada, which raises money to support athletes living with a disability. Chernove said that this foundation is near and dear to him, which is why he chose it in the first place.
He said in a video online that he was struggling yesterday morning during a particularly challenging stretch of the ride. He asked followers online to do what they can to donate, when the total was floating around $7,000.
According to a Facebook post from Chernove on Tuesday morning (July 21), the fundraising total reached $30,305.
