The Langley Chiefs rode strong special teams and stellar goaltending to a 3-0 series stranglehold on Monday night.The Chiefs went into Port Alberni and knocked off the Alberni Valley Bulldogs 5-1 on Monday night to put themselves one victory away from advancing to the second round of the BCHL playoffs.After allowing three power-play goals in game one — a 5-4 overtime victory — Langley’s penalty kill has gotten the job done, blanking the Bulldogs in their past nine man-advantage chances.Conversely, the Chiefs power play went 2-for-8.Wyatt Galley stopped 37 shots for the victory, as for the third straight game, Alberni Valley led on the shot clock. Galley has allowed just two goals in the past two games after surrendering four in game one and he has stopped 95 per cent of the shots in the series.The Chiefs led 2-0 after one period thanks to goals from Brandon Thompson and Mike Tebbutt.Alberni Valley cut the lead in half when Casey Bailey scored 6:14 into the second period, but Mason Blacklock and Josh Myers made it 4-1 after 40 minutes.Brandon Scholten added a power-play goal in the last minute of the game to complete the scoring.Tyler Miller and Matt Ius both had a pair of assists.The Chiefs go for the sweep on Tuesday (March 1) back at the Weyerhaeuser Arena.
