Chilliwack Chiefs audition youth in regular season finale

With nothing to play for, the Chiefs dressed a half-dozen affiliate player callups.

A Chilliwack Chiefs team playing two mean-nothing games before the playoffs lost twice on the road to Prince George.

The Chiefs, locked in as the top seed in the entire league, dressed seven affiliate players in a 5-3 loss Friday at the Rolling Mix Concrete Arena.

Sixteen year old Garrett Valk and 17 year old Matthew Marrotta skated on defence with Dawson Good (16), Davis Frank (16), Daniel Juca (16), Cade Cavallini (18) and Vincent Thrum (16) playing at forward in a 5-3 defeat.

Chilliwack’s top five point getters — Matt Holmes, Kevin Wall, Harrison Blaisdell, Skyler Brind’Amour and Cole Donhauser — skipped the trip along with the top defensive pairing of Mitch Andres and Marcus Tesink.

The Chiefs were out-shot 47-14 by a PG team that dressed a veteran lineup, keeping Nolan Hildebrand busy in the Chilliwack net.

Three of the Chiefs youngsters did pick up their first points.

Cavallini scored a goal with Frank and Good collecting assists.

All of the APs except Thrum were back in the lineup Saturday night for a 4-1 loss, with Cavallini scoring Chilliwack’s only goal.

Hildebrand got a second straight start, stopping 31 pucks.
