Chilliwack Chiefs game against Powell River is going to get ugly

The team will wear gaudy Christmas gear in a fundraiser for the Fraser Valley Health Care Foundation

The Chilliwack Chiefs will employ a new tactic for their Dec. 8 home game against the Powell River Kings.

The Chiefs will try to distract their Island division foes with ugly Christmas jerseys, hopefully capitalizing on the Kings’ confusion to skate away with a win.

Ugly jerseys (pictured to the right) worn by Chilliwack players will be auctioned off during the game, with proceeds going to support the Fraser Valley Health Care Foundation.

Fans are encouraged to wear their ugly Christmas sweaters to the game as well, part of a week of Chiefs Christmas initiatives.

On Dec. 9 the team will hold its annual Toque & Teddy Bear Toss night in support of the Chilliwack Community Services’ Christmas Sharing Program.

Fans are encouraged to bring toques and teddy bears to toss on the ice when Chilliwack scores its first goal against the Trail Smoke Eaters.

Players from the team will also be out ringing the kettle bells for the Salvation Army Dec. 6 and bagging groceries at the downtown Save-on-Foods Dec. 7.
