The Chilliwack Chiefs continue to clear roster spots for new recruits.
The junior A club sent 2000-born defenceman Alexander Marrocco to the Alberta Junior Hockey League’s Bonnyville Pontiacs Tuesday, getting future considerations in return.
That deal came just a day after Chilliwack traded goalie Daniel Chenard to Wenatchee and forward Chase Nameth to Merritt.
Marrocco is an Edmonton native who suited up for 48 regular season games with Chilliwack in 2018-19, producing two goals, 18 points and 33 penalty minutes.
He appeared in nine playoff games.
The Marrocco family has ties to Bonnyville, which is where Alexander’s older brother P.J. was playing when Chilliwack traded for him in 2017-18.
“We would like to thank Alex for his commitment to the Chiefs organization, and the community of Chilliwack,” said Chiefs associate coach and assistant general manager Brad Rihela. “He was a great teammate and player for us last season and we know he will be a very welcome addition in Bonnyville.”
