Chilliwack’s Matt Gudmundson rode home course advantage to a fourth place finish at last week’s Vancouver Golf Tour Player’s Championship.
The two-round tourney was played Thursday and Friday at the Chilliwack Golf Club, with Gudmundson carding a six-under-par 138.
The local was within four shots of leader Seann Harlingten after a near flawless opening round, carding a six-under 66 that included a half-dozen birdies. But Gudmundson lost ground early in round two with a bogey on the third hole and a double-bogey on four, and finished with an even-par 72.
Gudmundson finished nine strokes behind Harlingten.
Cheam Mountain instructor Kevin Stinson tied for eighth with a three-under-par 141.
Cody Stewart (Chilliwack Golf Club) tied for top spot in the amateur bracket, firing a three-over-par 147 that left him even with Swan-e-set’s Craig Titterington.
Jacob Lucki (Sandpiper) and David Yaromich (Chilliwack) finished inside the top 10.
