Dykstra plays for the Galveston (Texas) College Whitecaps and is the team’s primary catcher.

The righty-throwing, righty-hitting backstop played in 25 games, hitting .265 with one home run, eight runs batted in and three stolen bases.

But where the Sardis secondary grad truly starred was behind the plate, where he had a spotless 1.000 fielding percentage and 206 putouts.

Dykstra proved effective gunning down opposing runners, throwing out 13 would-be base stealers while allowing just 35 thefts, an excellent number at the JUCO level.

The teenager was the only infielder from the entire state of Texas to earn Gold Glove status.

Dykstra’s team went 10-15 overall in Div 1 play.
