Chilliwack defenceman Luke Wismer is one of the top young hockey players invited to play in a Prospects Game at this weekend’s Bauer BCHL Showcase.
Wismer and 36 others were identified at a BCHL Exposure Camp that was held in May at the Richmond Olympic Oval. They’ve been assigned to two teams that will face off Saturday at 10 a.m. on the main ice sheet at Prospera Centre.
The players are from the 2003 and 2004 age group and will play in front of nearly 200 scouts from the National Hockey League and NCAA ranks.
“We’re thrilled to offer the stage to these talented young players at the Showcase,” said BCHL executive director Trevor Alto. “The scouts that attend our Showcase will love having a chance to see these future junior hockey players taking the ice. We look forward to seeing these players on the rosters of our teams in the seasons to come.”
The BCHL Showcase started yesterday (Thursday) with six games at Prospera Centre.
Five games follow the Prospects Game on Saturday, starting with Alberni Valley and Salmon Arm at 1 p.m. and ending with the Chilliwack Chiefs and the Wenatchee Wild at 7 p.m.
