A talented group of 11 Chimo gymnasts competed in the 2012 Provincial Championships.  The top gymnasts from around BC gathered in North Vancouver from April 13-15 to test their skills against one another.

For Chimo, this was the first time competing in such large categories and at this level. Tyro P2 Sophia Mossie began the weekend with a fantastic eighth place overall thanks to her fifth place on the floor and in the same category Maiah Tanner finished in 42nd overall position.

Novice P2 Josee Jalbert’s 10th place beam finish netted her 25th overall and Isabella Pelletier was 36th overall. Lauren Carr was on the podium with first place on vault, second on floor and fifth on uneven bars for a thrilling second place overall.

Caitlyn Tatham, Open P2 competitor, finished 26th after scoring a respectable 13th on vault. Toni Smith finished 15th in the same category with her 10th place on bars.

Novice P3 gymnasts Ally Olson and Sawyer Sturam were 12th and 24rd respectively and Open P3’s Kaitlin Hillard  finished in 18th place.   Katie Symonds  reached the podium in three of her four events with first on floor, and third on vault and beam to finish fourth overall.

“The level of competition was high and the field was deep and Chimo gymnasts performed to tremendous success in the BC Championships this year,” a spokesperson said.
