We ladies must be doing something right because 37 ladies took to the course Tuesday of last week and only a few drops of rain hit us. There was one gigantic splash of lightning and a might clap of thunder but then it was gone and we golfed on in pleasant though slightly cool temperatures. Now I am not saying the men are behaving badly but they had a much cooler and windier night than we did.
Evelyn Lucas had a good game and topped it by scoring a deuce to take home that pot which has grown over the past three weeks. Christine LeCerf picked up the birdie pot and a new bird on the birdie tree.
Each week I try to say things a bit differently than previous weeks but sometimes I just have to keep being repetitive. A least occasionally the names are different. So here are the flight winners. Flight one (Interior Savings Credit Union) winners were Karen Peterson by retro (low gross – 49) and Susan Newberry (low net). Flight two (Stamer Logging) winners were Kelly Vangenne (low gross – 46) and Evelyn Lucas (low net). Flight three (MJB Lawyers) winners were Deb Winiski (low gross 53) and Linda Ransome (low net). Flight four low gross winner was Jen Amos with 56.
Hole one and two had long drive in two pins on them. The winners were Doreen Landry (Knights Inn), Brenda Carl (Pottery by Ramona), Leanna Layton (Rainer Custom Cutting) and Ilke Marais (Sam’s Pizza). hole three, hole five and hole eight had Long Putts and the winners were Deb Legaree (Station House Restaurant), Darlene Nickull (The Blue Jar Coffee Bar & Bistro), Leslie Stirling (Val Bella Studio), Irene Beeton (AG Foods), Betty Foote (Barriere Timber Mart) and Barb Smith (Crystlee’s Hair Design).
Long Drives on hole nine earned prizes for Cindy Leibel (Country Store Antiques) and Ilke Marais (Estylo Hair Design).
KP prizes on hole three went to Marian Wallace (Carl’s Market Garden), Fiona Clare (Campbell & Co), Linda Ransome (EBL Ventures) and Shirley Wiley (HUB International/Chad Belbin). The KP winners on hole six were Susan Mitchell (Ron Wallace Trucking) and Evelyn Lucas (Cindy Leibel – Realtor).
Karen Peterson won the Armour Mountain Office Supplies certificate for KP in two on hole seven while Val Aylward won the Barriere A&W gift card for landing closest to the tree on the same hole. A number of ladies landed closest to the gully (actually right in the gulley) to pick up gifts from Carman and Barb Smith. The Barriere Massage Certificate for the most use of a putter went to Dorothy Warman with 29.
Plans are underway for the first of our FUN nights. It will be happening on July 26 as we celebrate Christmas in July. It is a four person Texas scramble…perfect for those new golfers. Shot gun start is 5:30 p.m. followed by supper and prizes. Price of $40 includes golf, turkey dinner and prizes. Please remember to sign up and book your cart early. Price does not include the cart. It is helpful for the organizers if teams sign up together.
If you don’t have a team but would like to golf give Deb Rainer (250-672-9407 or Leslie Stirling (250-672-5706) a call and they will match you up with three other ladies.
