Chris “Bukwas” Anderson defeated Curtis Harriott by TKO (punches) at 3:53 of the first round June 18 to successfully defend his pro welterweight MMA championship.
Anderson, of Courtenay, earned his third straight win over Harriott at Battlefield Fight League 44 at the Hard Rock Casino in Coquitlam. Anderson handed Harriott his only amateur loss and his first pro loss when he took the title away from him March 12 at BFL 42 in Richmond.
Their third meeting was the main event on Saturday’s card and it was also the first time in BFL history that a former champion was given an automatic rematch.
After an impressive 10-2 amateur career, Anderson is now 4-0 as a pro while Harriott is 3-2.
