Chilliwack’s Brad Clapp got some much-needed good vibes with a win at the Vancouver Golf Tour’s Vancouver Open.
The tournament was held Aug. 6-8 at the Ledgeview Golf Club in Abbotsford.
Clapp, who’s spent most of this summer fighting to make cuts on the PGA Tour Canada, won the tourney by two strokes with an 11-under-par performance.
Clapp shot 69-66-66 over three rounds, carding 17 birdies in 54 holes.
He was two strokes better than a trio of golfers who tied for second place — Riley Wheeldon, Ryan Williams and Thomas Hay.
Clapp is in the middle of a short break from the PGA Tour Canada, which last played Aug. 2 and next plays Aug. 20.
Clapp will tackle the Hylands Golf Club in Ottawa, ON. next week for the National Capital Open.
He tied for 64th in last year’s event.
— The top amateur bracket at the Vancouver Open saw a pair of Chilliwack golfers tie for sixth overall.
Cody Stewart and Connor O’Dell were both nine-over-par to finish nine strokes off the pace set by winner Scott Landreth of Richmond.
Kaleb Fisher tied for 18th at 20 over par.
Mathew Lamb tied for 21st at 21 over par and Kerry Grittner was 31st at 33 over.
