The local soccer organization hosted its second annual Clearwater Footy Festival on Saturday, June 13, with about 250 players from ages seven – 13 on the Clearwater Secondary School field.
In addition to the local teams, there were eight teams from Barriere and one from Valemount.
Skills competitions were held for each division, including RCMP Cst. Tyson Bruns with a radar gun, checking speeds for the hardest shot. A player from Valemount in the U13 Division kicked the ball at 71 km/hr!
The weather was perfect, and the kids and parents seemed to enjoy themselves.
On May 30/31 players from Clearwater travelled to Ashcroft to participate in a tournament there.
The U10 team got second place. The U13 team lost all its games but were within one or two goals most games and played great.
