Clippers defeated by the same score twice versus Kings

Nanaimo swept in weekend road trip to Powell River

The Nanaimo Clippers had similar experiences in consecutive losses to the Powell River Kings on the weekend.

The Clips lost 4-2 to the Kings on Friday night in B.C. Hockey League action on the road, then lost by an identical 4-2 score the next evening at the same venue. What’s more, Nanaimo held 2-1 leads in both games.

In the first game, Joshua Bourne and Aiden Hansen-Bukata scored for the Clippers, who led early in the third period before the Kings came back. Jordan Naylor made 30 saves in the loss, shots were 34-24 for the home team.

The next day, Landon Pavlisin made 41 saves for Nanaimo as shots were 45-20 for Powell River. Blake Bonnar and Jordan Dawson scored goals as the Clippers led early in the second period.

GAME ON … Next action for the Clippers is the BCHL Showcase tournament in Chilliwack. Nanaimo takes on the Vernon Vipers on Thursday, Sept. 20 and West Kelowna on Saturday before returning home Sunday, Sept. 23, to play the Victoria Grizzlies at 2 p.m. at Frank Crane Arena. Tickets for that one will be available at the door.
