Shylo Orchard and Jeremy Deschamps captured gold in their respective classes in the final ABA BMX Provincial series race of the season Sunday in Nanaimo.
They were among 17 Vernon BMX Club riders that travelled to the Island to compete.
Connor Butt Lansfried, Jaydon Riddick, Landon Fitt, Tyler Riva, Robbie Bitz, Jennifer Bitz and Nolan Cummings took silver.
Hanya Riddick, Jake Spence, Xavier Bitz and Jim Bridge had third-place showings. Receiving notable mention in their respective classes were Faith Riddick, Chris Spence, Evan Hopkins and Teegan Deschamps.
Earning overall provincial top-10 title plates were Orchard, Jennifer Bitz and Jeremy Deschamps. Faith Riddick, Fitt and Riva (Cruiser class) collected No. 2 plates.
No. 3 plates went to Chris Spence, Robbie Bitz and Hopkins. No. 4 plates went to Jeremy Deschamps and Cummings.
Jaydon Riddick secured a No. 7 plate, Riva and Xavier Bitz had No. 9 plates and Teegan Deschamps collected a No. 10.
Meanwhile, the Vernon BMX Club is hosting a girls/ladies night tonight at the Ranger Park track.
New rider registration begins at 5 p.m., with track riding beginning at 5:30. No previous BMX experience is necessary, and all ages are welcome.
Orchard will be on hand to offer coaching tips and riding insight.
A limited number of BMX bikes will be available to use for the practice, but participants are encouraged to bring their own bikes and helmets. Long-sleeve shirt, pants, runners and a water bottle are also recommended.
