The Vernon Coca Cola Tier 3 Midget Vipers continue to bite opponents.
Vernon improved to 24-0-0 on the weekend, dumping the West Kelowna Warriors 7-2 in a penalty-filled OMAHA hockey contest.
Newcomer Cole Johnson scored once and played a very solid game, earning the team’s hard had after the contest as game MVP.
Gavin Fleck had three goals, Mason Robinson added 1+2 while Ethan Joe contributed three assists to support Jordan Foster in the Vernon goal.
Other markers went to Jacob Green and
Lincoln Connor.
Vernon backup goalie Koltin Dodge left the team halfway through the game for good reason: he’d been called up by the B.C. Hockey League’s Vernon Vipers to backup Anthony Yamnitsky with Ty Taylor away at the World Junior A Hockey Challenge training camp.
“He’s a true competitor and always brings a positive and professional presence to the rink and dressing room,” said Coca Cola head coach
Casey Sherriff.
Dodge has a 2.00 goals against average.
The Sun Valley Source For Sports Bantam Tier 3 Vipers invaded 100 Mile House for a couple of dominant wins over a very physically imposing Wranglers team.
Vernon pulled to an early lead Saturday night and never looked back in stomping the host Wranglers 10-2. Teja Sheldrake got the win between the pipes.
The Vipers kept their foot on the throttle Sunday with a 14-2 victory. Parker Stadnyk played very well and got the win, backstopping the
confident Vipers.
Vernon hosts its home tournament this weekend starting Friday night at Civic Arena versus Semiahmoo. Puck drops at 615 p.m.
In Tier 2 Peewee action, the Vernon Watkin Motors Mustangs improved their league record to 7-0-2 with a pair of weekend wins.

“We still have to work on our discipline and getting rid of our bad habits in order to pick up our game,” said head coach Taylor Wilson.
The Mustangs travelled to Kelowna Memorial on Sunday, earning a 6-3 win with a short bench. Deagan McMillan scored four goals, Pastro added a pair and Zack Casagrande notched two assists.
“The boys played well with a short bench,” said Wilson. “And the Kelowna goalie was on fire.”
