The Royal Bay junior girls basketball team finished strong in provincial play.
The Ravens, ranked 12th going in, finished 12th.
Head coach Dave Awalt said the girls played really well and had some tight games.
In their final game against the 10th ranked team, Langley’s Brookswood secondary school, the Ravens lost by only two points for a final score of 53-51.
Player of the game honours were awarded twice to Hannah Cormode, as well as Lauren Awalt and Rachel Schmidt.
He added that considering the Ravens were one of the youngest teams in the tournament, their future looks bright. He expects up to eight players will be returning next season and highlighted some talent moving up from Dunsmuir middle school, which finished in 11th place at the Grade 8 provincials last weekend.
