Six mens’ teams an 10 ladies’ teams competed in The Mens and Ladies Combined Bonspiel on Feb 11-13 at the Ashcroft Curling Club.
The winners for the men were: 1st-the Dwight Hodder team from Ashcroft (Dwight Hodder skip, Cheyne Hodder third, Chris Brezina second and Colin Hodder lead). 2nd for the men was the Wayne Tresierra team from Cache Creek (Gary Farr skip, Wayne Tresierra third, Ben Fuglesveidt second and Orval Trueman lead).
The A-side winners on the ladies side were: 1st- the Leslie Downs rink from Clearwater and, 2nd- the Barb Hodder rink from Ashcroft (Barb Hodder skip, Janet Quesnel third, Caitlin Quesnel second and Gina Stewart lead). The B side was won by the Carol Hindle rink from Clearwater and 2nd was won by the Deanna Zielke rink from 100 Mile House.
This is the first year we have tried the combined format and hope to repeat this again next year. Everyone had fun, with one of the highlights being the fabulous music played Saturday night by the Bargain Basement Band. A big thank you to the band for such great music. Thank you, too, to the Legion Ladies and all the club members who once again came through with a terrific meal.
