Lauren Lan of Comox is a 2017 viaSport coach-of-the-year recipient, recognizing her dedication and commitment to cycling.

A winner in the recreational/grassroots category, Lan brings 10 years of coaching experience to share her passion with the Comox Valley. As a coach with Cycling BC’s iRide program, she works with elementary school students to advance their foundational skills in cycling. Her encouraging personality has allowed many students to build confidence and a love for cycling.

Besides coaching, Lan leads the yearly Bike to School Week, and raises money for covered bike racks to enable a greater number of students to bike year-round.

Although she had surgery this year, Lan continues to lead by example and cycle everywhere. An NCCP-certified coach, she is on the path to becoming a learning facilitator to develop other skilled and knowledgeable cycling coaches.

Along with receiving a bursary, Lan will be honoured at the 2018 Induction Gala on May 31, hosted by the BC Sports Hall of Fame.
