Twelve-year-old Dakota Sanzana of Comox concluded the judo season by winning a bronze medal in the Under-16 division in her weight category at nationals last weekend in Edmonton. She lost just one bout in a round robin.
Dakota is the youngest athlete to ever podium at Judo Nationals.
Her sister Makayla suffered an ankle sprain while competing in the U18 division Friday. The injury prevented her from competing Saturday in U16, which is her division.
