Comox-raised Logan Nijhoff, a member of the Regina Pats in the Western Hockey League, scored a goal in the 2019 WHL Prairie Classic outdoor game, Oct. 27 in Regina, Sask.
The 18-year-old left winger is assistant captain of the Pats, who hosted the game against Calgary. With more than 15,000 fans in Mosaic Stadium, the Pats took the Hitmen to overtime, but lost during the three-on-three.
Nijhoff played from atom to second-year bantam with Comox Valley Minor Hockey. He then moved to Penticton to attend the Okanagan Hockey Academy (OHA). He was drafted by the Pats in the 2016 bantam draft. He played his first WHL game that year as he went back and forth between the OHA and Regina. At age 16, he landed a full-time spot with the Pats in December 2017. That season, Regina hosted the Memorial Cup. The team reached the final but lost 3-0 to Acadie-Bathurst.
