The Comox Valley bantam Raiders football team was in North Delta Sunday for a game that had two unbeaten teams playing for sole possession of first place in the league.
The Raiders came out on fire and walked away with a 46-8 victory against a Longhorn’s team that was very physical and not easy to beat.
The offence was able to put up more than 500 yards because of outstanding play by the offensive line led by Alan Del Rivero Gallardo. With the line’s efforts, Drew Wootton and Shamus Harrison were each able to run for more than 190 yards each and multiple touchdowns.
Not to be outdone, the Raider’s defence was also on point with tremendous play up front by Hannah Bourbyn, Ashton Leopard and Brodie Lawrie. With the defence playing so strong up front, Bryce Benton was able to roam the backfield and snag three interceptions, all but assuring the win.
The Raiders are in Langley Sunday to look to improve on their perfect 3-0 start.
