The Comox Valley Cycle Club held its year-end awards banquet on Oct. 23.

It was a banner season with an 85 per cent member increase, says CVCC president Daniel Wilson. “We couldn’t have done it without all the CVCC executive and numerous volunteers,” Wilson said.

“The hard-working riders who won their categories were presented with their awards, and our youth racers each received a $250 bursary cheque to help them towards their racing fees.

“The CVCC is super proud of all their members and participants and will be looking towards an even stronger 2017 season,” said Wilson.

CVCC vice-president Aaron Milan handed out awards to the following category winners: Jim Lawrence (Cat C), Harry Reddin (Cat B), Ben Katerberg (Cat A), Scott Fleming (Merckx Time Trial), James Grant (Time Trial) and Chris Bowman (Most Improved).

Club secretary Ray Wagner presented the four $250 bursary cheques to junior racers Mark Grant, Ben Katerberg, Isaac Van der Vliet and James Grant.
