Comox Valley Pickleball Association membership at all-time high

The official opening of the Rotary Highland courts was among the highlights at the Comox Valley Pickleball Association's AGM Oct. 2.

“They are among the best in all of Canada, and have experienced very heavy usage throughout the spring, summer and fall,” a news release states.

Another topic was the re-surfacing of the Martin Park lacrosse box with lines for pickleball and lacrosse play.

Membership for the CVPA is at an all-time high with 318 members.

The CVPA Academy has been busy. Four certified instructors provide complimentary lessons to beginner, intermediate and advanced members.

Referee training has been introduced. The CVPA has 16 referees-in-training, capable of refereeing pickleball matches.

The board of directors for 2019-20 are Rick Folk (president), Rod Hamilton (vice-president), Colleen Crowder (treasurer),

Donna Turner (secretary), Jaye Mathieu, Darlene Nelson, Wayne Niemi and Judy Osborne.

It is the intention of the association to continue operating in a co-operative, positive manner for the advancement of its sport.
