The Comox Valley Triathlon Club is holding spin sessions and registration for the 2017 season on Sunday, Jan. 8 at the Lewis Centre in Courtenay.
Non-members are welcome to attend the spin sessions for a drop-in fee. Registration starts after the spin sessions, and goes from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m.
The club is looking to expand its membership for 2017. Experienced triathletes and those looking for a new physical challenge are welcomed.
The first swim session of the new year is on Jan. 15. This is a coached session for tri club members only.
2017 is looking to be a big year for the club. New initiatives include a reduced $20 club membership fee, a revamped website (which will include group workout details and triathlon related material), and a new series of exciting summer events which are planned for May through August.
These will be friendly but competitive triathlon and duathlon events at numerous local venues. There will be a variety of formats at these events to keep things interesting, including some team events.
The club is looking forward to motivating and preparing local triathletes for the Comox Valley Tri K and other Vancouver Island events throughout the spring and summer.
In addition to coached training sessions and group training sessions, there is a fun social aspect to the club which will continue through 2017.
