Mowi Riptide soccer teams concluded the VIPL regular season on the Feb. 15/16 weekend.

On the Saturday, the U14 girls defeated Victoria South 2-0 while the U16 girls lost 5-0 against Victoria South – a team they defeated 2-1 a few weeks ago.

On Sunday, the U15 Riptide boys — minus three starters from Powell River — lost 5-1 to Victoria West, against whom they face in the first round of playoffs this weekend.

The U18 boys defeated the U17 Lakehill boys 5-2 at home.

All teams will play in the VIPL semi-finals Feb. 29-March 1, and must win to extend their season for a chance to play in the VIPL finals March 8-9.

The U18 Riptide girls have qualified for the U18 VIPL final by finishing first in their league. They await the winner of Sunday’s semi-final game between the U18 Storm and U18 Gorge. In the meantime, the girls played an exhibition against Peninsula College during a trip to Port Angeles. Facing Riptide alumni Toni Powsey, Tommylea Dunbar and Madison Stevens, the U18s held the college team to a 3-3 draw.

“Each and every Riptide player performed at a very high level and rose to the challenge of playing collegiate-level players,” Riptide technical director Shel Brodsgaard said.
