It was two tough 2-1 losses for the two Comox Valley United teams in the Vancouver Island Soccer League this past weekend.
On Oct. 22 in Victoria, Div. 1 United were doubled up 2-1 by Lakehill Maple Glass. Liam Creek tallied the lone Comox goal to earn team Rookie honours while Clay Fauchon was Comox Valley MVP. Parker Atkins and Avi Bachra scored for Lakehill.
United (0-5-1) remains in the Div. 1 cellar but can escape this Saturday, Oct. 29 when they host Saanich Fusion (1-5-0) in a 6 p.m. start at Vanier Turf Field.
On Oct. 21 at the local turf field, Div. 3B United dropped a 2-1 decision to Gorge FC. Rob Caya netted the lone Comox Valley goal and was team MVP. Gorge MVP Kirk Myler and Luke Neville Rutherford scored for the visitors.
Fifth-place United (2-4-1) is on the road this Saturday to take on seventh-place Penelakut (0-2-2).
