Bays United proved to be the bane of Comox Valley United in Vancouver Island Soccer League action on the weekend.
The Victorians defeated the local men’s side 3-2 in Div. 1 play and 3-0 in Div. 3B action. The results left both Bays teams undefeated and the Comox Valley squads looking for bigger and better things this weekend.
On Sept. 24 in Courtenay, United dropped their Div. 1 home opener 3-2. Zack Stinson scored both Comox Valley goals and earned team MVP honours. Michael Moon led the Bays with two goals while James Rhodes added the other.
On Sept. 25 in Victoria, the Bays blanked Comox Valley 3-0 behind the flawless goalkeeping of Keane Donaldson. Andrew Brinkworth (2) and Seabata Makhakhe netted the home team’s goals.
This weekend, Div. 1 United (0-2-0) is away to Nanaimo (0-1-1) on Oct. 1 while Div. 3B United (1-2-0) is home to top of the table Prospect Lake Lakers (3-0-0) on Oct. 2 in a 4 p.m. start at Comox Valley turf field.
